  3. 1) The first memory I have about reading is that I hated reading. I read books because it was a requirement for the classes. But one day my sister introduce me to the book called The five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom, which became one of my favorite books. It only took that one book to make me realize that I actually enjoy and love reading for fun. Now I own many books of many different genres, my book case is running out of space but still I want more books.

    2) The most significant memory I have about reading is I hated reading. I would groan at the sight of reading a book. There were some books that I did enjoy to read like The Outsiders, A Child Called It but never really caught my attention to the point of making read more. But now its a different story.

  4. 1) The first memory I have of reading takes me back to fourth grade when my teacher (Mrs.Wise) assigned me a book report to do on NFL legend; Emmitt Smith. I found that I enjoyed reading books on him mainly because I love football. It was easy for myself to get lost reading books on Emmitt. He is one of my favorite players that have played the game and I credit him for sparking my interest in reading.

    2) The most significant memory I have of reading is recent. I'm taking you all back to 2012 when I was a freshman at APU (Azusa Pacific University) and arrived at my first college class; writing 135. My professor assigned us the book "The Giver" and said, "your first assignment will be in two weeks, read the whole book and write a three to five page paper on the book." All I was thinking was "damn... I'm for sure dropping this class." All in all, I ended up not dropping the class and passed. That book caused me numerous sleepless nights trying to finish that thing.

It was quite interesting because the books would always be interesting. She told the whole class "Even when you're on vacation make sure you give yourself some time to read , because memory fades if you don't use something it will erase" I always think about that because its true. I read a lot now and it helps me to learn new words.

I wouldn't say I have a passion of reading but I do enjoy reading especially when the book is most interesting. I've read quite a few books with different genres, even reading books that I thought wouldn't interest me actually surprised me, cuhz it took me by surprise. If i ever hated reading it's only cuhz I was either forced to read it, as in it was required in class or the type of genre.
    2) The most significant memory I have of reading was in elementary school. If I can recall correctly I believe it was second grade. My teacher gave us folders filled with stories in them and the objective was to see how fluent and fast at reading we were. So there would be days when we had reading time and she would call us up 1 by 1. She would time us about 1min and when the time is up, we stop. After we stopped reading we would mark where we stopped and the goal for next reading is to pass where you stopped previously. Just passing where you had stopped before always felt like an accomplishment and I've always enjoyed that feeling! it was a challenge and that's what made it exciting, psh well for a 2nd grader!!!

  15. The first memory I have of reading is when I was about three or four years old. I picked up a book that my older sister had been using for school and spent all day trying to sound out the words correctly. That night when it was time for bed, I told my mother "no I'm reading tonight" she was shocked because I hadn't shown interests in books before then. I read the book to her and my siblings before we all went to bed, even though I had no clue what the words meant or how the story was tied together I was still unbelievably excited to read to them.

The most significant memory I have of reading would be when I was 9-10 years old. My mother had passed away during the summer, so to cope with that I would lock myself away in various places i.e.; the bathroom, the garage, my room when my siblings were not home. I would read for hours, getting entranced in these books, making myself one of the characters so I could escape reality for just a little while. It helped me a lot when it came to my home life and coping, I don't find much time to read now as much as I'd like too but back then it really kept my head clear.
